About

About

I’m a commercial photographer & videographer based in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. My speciality is in medical device and sports or fitness, but I also do some editorial, portrait, and sports content to stay sharp.

In 1992, I learned to shoot on film and fell in love with the photography process. However, I eventually turned this passion into a career. I am a member of the Professional Photographers Association and my images have been published online in the Wall St. Journal, Politico, Fodor’s Guide, Fox News, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and many more.

Approach

Clients compliment our professionalism, reliability, quality of image assets, sense of urgency, and attention to detail, including meeting the ever-important budgetary requirements. I connect with the team and have fun on the job, while ensuring the work gets done as well as humanly possible.

Sports photography is my favorite type of photography to shoot, probably because I am a former NCAA Division I baseball student athlete at Illinois State University. I love making images tell the story visually, and remember the blood, sweat, and tears that were shed for the athlete to get to that point in their career. However, although sports are my favorite subject, corporate/commercial, editorial, and portraits comprise the larger portion of the company’s business.

Personal

Originally, I’m from the Midwest, and previously I lived in California for a little over a decade and Boston for about six years. I’m married to a wonderful wife with two kids and a dog (RIP Rudy) and we currently live in Cary, North Carolina. I can drive easily throughout the Atlantic coast and southeastern US and will travel worldwide.

Gear

People always ask me a lot in person and on Instagram about my gear. Typically it’s something trite like, “Wow, that’s an amazing image. I bet you have a really nice camera!”. In my opinion, the gear does not make a commercial photographer; the commercial photographer makes the gear. That is not to say the gear is irrelevant.

Above all, gear is incredibly important and I use some of the highest quality gear from the some of best companies in the industry. Therefore, this allows me to deliver a high-quality, professional product to my customers to exceed expectations. If you have any questions about gear, feel free to reach out.
